This frog is found near water in open paddocks, forests, wetlands and woodlands. Sheltering among reeds and debris, it is a voracious hunter, eating and animal smaller than itself. Eggs are laid among plants in still or slow moving water, in a foam raft which the female creates by trapping bubbles in the egg jelly. They hatch within two weeks. Like most frogs, tadpoles trap food in mucous strings. Males call whilst amost fully submerged in water, or from beneath a raft of eggs.

Call: "Toc", like a dripping tap.
